Advantages of Social Media
Section three of the first chapter is titled Introduction to Social Media. This section talks about the advantages and disadvantages of social media. Big advantages of social media are unlimited access and more exposure. When I think of brands optimizing social media, they use a unique approach. They find an innovative way to reach their audience that competitors haven't.
Social media also shows your fans or your audience the people side of the company. The emergence of TikTok is a very easy way that businesses show owners, employees, their product/service and daily activity. Accounts on TikTok that come to mind when I think about this is NFL teams players interacting with the social media team and Vic blends. Vic is a man who gives free haircuts to random people to share his message and give advice. He then uploads that video to TikTok and gets millions of views. These are two examples of how social media is used to strengthen or completely represent someone's brand. Vic doesn't have the platform he has to inspire and change people's lives without TikTok. He can't afford to fund a TV show where he cuts random people's hair. Also, it would be hard to fill an entire 30 minute time block of just cutting hair. I think the cost of social media is a very under appreciated factor. It has opened up so many paths for people who wouldn't be able to pay for a commercial or TV show to promote their product.
