Facebook went 100 to 0

Facebook launched a new algorithm in 2018. This new algorithm pushed more people to people interaction. This means business pages and organic posts are virtually eliminated from your timeline. This is great for the people who are annoyed by advertisements and just want to view their friends' comments. This new algorithm had me thinking about the companies that relied on Facebook to push their brand image. Growing up in a family that owns and runs a small business I know that the budget for marketing is not very big.

I understand why Facebook might want their users to have more content than advertisements. However, virtually eliminating all advertisements is something I am struggling to wrap my head around. Small companies with no marketing budget cannot afford to promote themselves, they get screwed here. Your big corporations along with Facebook are the real winners of this algorithm change. Facebook now requires paid promotions to get "more" reach. This means companies are going to shell out big money to get boosted promotion of this platform. Getting out the little guy and giving them more of a spotlight.

This is a great example of money driving the world. Facebook found a way to make more money and took advantage of it. Unfortunately, you'll always have winners and losers in business. The small companies are the real losers in this situation.
